Office of Proposal Development serves faculty researchers as they conceptualize, develop, and write their proposals to federal agencies and other entities to seek funding for their research projects. OPD works across all disciplines, departments, and divisions, with the overarching goal of making the proposal as compelling and competitive as possible and of making the proposal development process as straightforward and streamlined as possible.
OPD offers an extensive array of services to assist researchers – whether working on large, multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional center proposals or smaller individual-investigator applications – through any or all stages of the proposal preparation process. These services include identifying funding opportunities, providing competitive intelligence, creating a proposal checklist, generating a proposal production schedule, developing proposal templates, coordinating efforts with external partners, vetting and editing the proposal text, designing a visually appealing proposal format, and verifying that the proposal addresses all review criteria and complies with all sponsor guidelines. OPD also offers a variety of training opportunities for faculty at any career stage and from any discipline to assist faculty in honing their proposal development skills and enhance their competitiveness in securing grant funds.
