DESCRIPTION
The Autoflex Speed is equipped with a Smart Beam LASER capable of acquiring data at up to 2000 shots/second. For properly prepared samples, with masses below 5KDa, the instrument provides unit resolution when operated in the reflection mode. It can also provide enhanced resolution of compounds up to 20 KDa in mass in the reflectron mode. When operated in the linear mode the Autoflex Speed has an upper mass range of 250 KDa. The instrument is capable of performing analysis of synthetic polymers and other materials. However, the primary application of this instrument is to biomolecules (i.e. peptides, intact proteins, oligonucleotides, etc.). The Autoflex is a ToF-ToF instrument that is capable of performing MS/MS experiments. The system is an open access system. Users are granted access after receiving training. The addition of the SCiLS software package allows the instrument to be used for some MALDI imaging experiments. To further assist with data processing the system also has BioTools and PolyTools software packages.
