DESCRIPTION
This microscope is designed to combine a 1-photon laser point-scanning confocal with an alternate 2-photon module for deeper penetration into thick samples. Excitation Laser Lines: Four regular electronic solid-state laser lines (405, 488, 560, and 640 nm) and an addition of NIR 730 nm laser lines for the confocal system. The Insight X3 Dual-OL 2-photon laser has 100-fs pulses across a 680-1300nm tuning range for the 2-photon system (see below for details). Optics: Detectors: The game-changing SilVIR detector combines two advanced technologies—a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) and Olympus' patented fast signal-processing design. This silicon photomultiplier (SilVIR/SiPM) type detector eliminates many of the issues and restrictions of conventional PMTs. The Olympus patented signal processing circuit (SilVIR) also incorporates technology that maximizes the sensor’s capabilities, expanding its applicability to high-pixel numbers and high-speed imaging. A very high S/N ratio and very high sensitivity with almost no background (extremely low noise), combined with a very large dynamic range, allow users to adjust laser power to get an outstanding image. High dynamic range photon counting (16-bit) and no degradation of sensitivity. It delivers 100-fs pulses across a wide 680-1300nm tuning range and a second fixed-wavelength output to facilitate the most demanding multiphoton imaging experiments. The InSight X3 Dual-OL tunable output features DeepSee™ dispersion compensation, delivering the shortest pulses to the sample. The DeepSee can be tuned to maximize image brightness, allowing deeper tissue imaging with lower risk of optical damage.
