DESCRIPTION
Please visit the following website for more information: https://research.rice.edu/sea/nuclear-magnetic-resonance-nmr The Bruker Avance III 200 MHz Solid-State NMR Spectrometer is equipped with a two-channel wide-bore magic-angle spinning (MAS) probe. MAS spinning speeds up to 15 kHz can be achieved using standard 4 mm zirconia rotors at room temperature. Both 1H-X cross-polarization (CP) and direct X-nucleus pulse experiments are available for characterizing atomic-level chemical structures in solid materials, including powders, single crystals, and amorphous samples. Sample Requirements: Approximately 85 mg of solid sample is required for a 4 mm ZrO₂ MAS rotor. The operating principles of solid-state NMR differ significantly from those of solution NMR. For a brief introduction to these principles, please refer to this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_nuclear_magnetic_resonance. To discuss the use of this instrument for your research, please contact Dr. Xu Wang at xw75@rice.edu. Spectrometer time is reserved through the FOM calendar.
Solid samples must be finely powdered. Samples can be ground using a mortar and pestle or a ball mill.
All samples must be completely dry.
Samples must not be conductive or ferromagnetic.
