Office of STEM Engagement


The Rice Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM) supports and promotes Rice University's wide-ranging efforts to improve K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in all Greater Houston Area school districts. We are proud to serve as the central point of contact for school districts, parents, students, nonprofit organizations, university faculty, and others in the Greater Houston Area regarding various STEM outreach programs and events at Rice.

Rice working with nonprofit to develop next generation of environmental justice advocates

Thanks to new funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation (CELF) will partner with Rice University’s Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM) and other area stakeholders to help students conduct research on local environmental justice issues and propose future climate resilience strategies for their communities.

AMPosium! Celebrates 10 Years of Inquiry and Learning

Rice University’s Office of STEM Engagement and ConocoPhillips welcomed over 130 past and current participants in the ConocoPhillips Applied Math Program (AMP!) to AMPosium! April at the BioScience Research Collaborative. The yearlong program offers innovative strategies to science and mathematics teachers in grades 5 through 9.
