Circuit Board Classrooms (CBC): Microelectronics for Teachers

About CBC: Microelectronics for Teachers:

CBC: Microelectronics for Teachers is a free, year-long professional development program designed to equip secondary science teachers with the knowledge and skills to bring microelectronics into their classrooms. Participants will engage in hands-on training, explore semiconductor technology, and gain access to Rice University’s clean room and the Shared Equipment Authority (SEA). By integrating these experiences into their teaching, educators will inspire the next generation of STEM innovators.

The program begins with an 8-day immersive summer workshop, followed by two academic-year meetings to reinforce learning and implementation. Teachers will gain expertise in circuit design, semiconductor properties, and cleanroom safety while also developing inquiry-based pedagogy to enhance student engagement. Participants receive a stipend, certification, and ongoing mentorship as they bring cutting-edge STEM applications into their classrooms.
