Physics camp has proven benefits for high school girls

Rice studies also show hands-on engineering experiences help teachers engage students

Two studies conducted by Rice Office of STEM Engagement assess the impact of programs on participants. One study shows that even a small effort up front can boost the abilities and confidence of girls as they anticipate taking challenging science courses. Another shows the value of professional development for teachers whose coursework touches on engineering topics but who are not, themselves, engineers.
