About STEAMotion

STEAMotion is a dynamic one-week summer academy crafted by the Rice Office of STEM Engagement in collaboration with TinkerWorks and various school districts. Our program is designed to ignite young minds and bodies, offering a unique blend of enriching STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities.

Students embark on an exciting journey exploring physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering through hands-on activities in the classroom and in motion. Each day includes immersive STEAM projects and engaging activities, fostering teamwork and collaboration. Led by experienced school district staff, our academies also feature guest speakers and special learning opportunities, ensuring a rich and memorable experience for all participants.

Summer 2024 STEAMotion

STEAMotion is available this summer during June and July featuring three weeks : "A," "B," and "C" weeks. All three weeks will focus on the same content for each grade level. Lunch is not included in the registration fee for this program. Students will need to bring their own lunch each day and a refillable water bottle. Water refilling stations will be available. You can add a R-STEM water bottle to your registration for an additional fee upon checkout.

STEAMotion - Katy ISD

Location: Robert R. Shaw STEAM Center
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm | Mon-Thu
Grade Levels: K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th

- Week A: June 10-13, 2024- Registration is closed for Week A

- Week B: July 8-11, 2024- Sold out for Grades 4-5

- Week C: July 22-25, 2024- Limited availability for Grades 4-5

This program requires the payment of a registration fee of $349 per week. Payment is made during the registration process. Registrants will be required to submit signed participant agreement and release forms for minors as part of their registration for each child.

Completing the registration form does NOT guarantee placement in the program. Participation in the program is contingent upon receipt of the registration fee and completion of all applicable minor participant agreement and release forms. Registrants are required to submit signed participant agreement and release forms for minors with their registration for each child which is part of the registration process.

Registration for STEAMotion Katy ISD has been extended for Weeks B and C until Sunday, June 23, 2024

STEAMotion - Tomball ISD

*Tomball ISD students only

Location: Grand Lakes Junior High School
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm | Mon-Fri
Grade Levels: K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, and 6th-8th

Registration extended until 9:00 a.m. CDT June 4, 2024

- Week A: June 10-14, 2024 (Grades 2-3 Sold out/ Grades 4-5 Sold out)
- Week B: June 17-21, 2024 (Grades 4-5 Sold out)

Cancellation Policy

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (by e-mail) to RSTEM.

A 50% refund will be received if the request is made at least 10 business days prior to the first day of the program.

No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests made less than 10 business days prior to the first day of the program.
