STEM-Letics Academy

About STEM-Letics

The Rice Office of STEM Engagement and Rice Athletics offer week-long day camps during the summer for current (2023-2024 school year) 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th grade elementary school students. These day camps are designed to keep students both mentally and physically active during the summer.

Students explore different forms of energy, physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering through active exploration activities in the classroom and on the playing field. The day is split between engineering challenges using sustainable and recyclable materials and sports activities that focus on teamwork and collaboration.

STEM-Letics Activities

STEM content includes but is not limited to:

• Wind Energy
• Thermal Energy
• Electrical Energy
• Force and Motion
• Mathematics
• Engineering Design Process

Athletics and Physical Activities include but are not limited to:

• Ultimate Frisbee
• Soccer
• Capture the Flag/Flag Football
• Baseball
• Robotics/Rocketry
• Relay Races
• Kickball

Summer 2024 STEM-Letics Academy^*

STEM-Letics Academy is back for three weeks this summer during June and July featuring three weeks of different content: "A," "B," and "C" weeks. All three weeks will focus on engineering design challenges but each week will have different activities for students. Students may register for one, two, or all three weeks.

Space is limited so registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and registration opens February 1, 2024.

• STEM-Letics Academy is offered for a fee of $499 per student/week.

• Lunch is not included in the registration fee for this program. Students will need to bring their own lunch each day and a refillable water bottle. Water refilling stations will be available. You can add a R-STEM water bottle to your registration for an additional fee upon checkout.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available to a limited number of participants. To apply for a scholarship please click the links below to download the application. Do NOT register for the Academy if you are applying for a scholarship. Once scholarships have been awarded registration links will be sent to scholarship recipients.

A Week

Week A Theme: Forms of Energy

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

This program requires the payment of a registration fee of $499 per week. Payment is made during the registration process.

Registrants will be required to submit signed participant agreement and release forms for minors as part of their registration for each child.

B Week

C Week

Week C Theme: Engineering Design

Monday - Friday
July 8 - 12, 2024
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

This program requires the payment of a registration fee of $499 per week. Payment is made during the registration process.

Registration

The activities in STEM-Letics Academy are designed for current (2023-2024 school year) 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th grade students.

Space is limited, and the camps will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please complete an individual registration for each child you are registering.

Register Now

Completing the registration form does NOT guarantee placement in the program. Participation in the program is contingent upon receipt of the registration fee and completion of all applicable minor participant agreement and release forms. Registrants are required to submit signed participant agreement and release forms for minors with their registration for each child which is part of the registration process.

All future registrants for filled weeks or registrants that have not yet paid or completed the required release forms will be placed on a waiting list.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (by e-mail) to RSTEM.

A 50% refund will be received if the request is made at least 10 business days prior to the first day of the program.

No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests made less than 10 business days prior to the first day of the program.
