Instructions for Principal Investigators: Completing the Rice Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

The following documents are required for the MOU process.
Accessing these resources will require you to verify your NetID and password. Please note that the completed MOU must include signatures from each collaborating institution.
Submission Process:
Collaborating institutional representatives will work with Rice researchers to submit via Cayuse Animal Oversight, which can be accessed by clicking here.
NOTE: Log in using Net ID and password.
Checklist for PIs:
☐ MOU template with signatures from both institutions
☐ IACUC approved protocol and approval letter
☐ Grant congruency verification

- IACUC Approval from Collaborating Institution
- IACUC Approval Letter from Collaborating Institution (if AAALAC-accredited)
- Copy of the IACUC Protocol and Approval Letter (if not AAALAC-accredited)
- Institutional Information
- OLAW Assurance Number
- USDA Registration Number (if applicable)
- AAALAC Accreditation Status
- A signed statement from their Institutional Official confirming institutional adherence to the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and PHS policy (if partner institution is not AAALAC accredited)
- Review of Grant to Protocol Congruency
- Confirmation that the approved IACUC protocol aligns with the scope of work described in the research grant proposal.
- Collaborating institution representatives work with Rice researchers to submit via Cayuse Animal Oversight, which can be accessed by clicking here.
- Anticipate deadlines: Initiate the Rice MOU process early to ensure sufficient time for review, processing, and formal acknowledgment.
