The Digital Media Commons (DMC) supports the creation and use of multimedia in education, scholarship, and creative expression. The DMC provides services that include hands-on training, assistance with digital projects, and access to the essential tools for creating digital resources. To this end, the DMC offers short courses in 2D graphic design and digital illustration, poster creation, data visualization, video production and editing, photography, and audio production and editing. Instructors may also request a custom short course or workshop for their students. To support digital projects, the DMC lends over 194 pieces of equipment for making videos and audio recordings, offers 10 high-end computer stations loaded with Adobe Creative Suite and some widely used open-source apps, and provides ample space for digital productions, including an Audio Studio that may be reserved for recording interviews, podcasts, or music; and a Photo/Video Studio stocked with various backdrops, lighting equipment, and other resources. The DMC is well-equipped with scanners and a large-format plotter, offering poster printing services and providing regularly updated resource guides for use by the Rice community.
