Teachers from the Greater Houston Area are eligible to apply for all three of the RET internships below! Please submit a separate application for each internship you are interested in. Teachers from the Greater El Paso, TX and Phoenix, AZ areas are eligible to apply for the NEWT RET internship.
- Nanotechonology (Nano RET)
Nanotechnology Research Experience for Teachers is a year-long program for Greater Houston Area teachers. The program includes a 6-week internship in a nanotechnology research laboratory at Rice University, seminars, presentations based on research done at Rice, and school year workshops.
- Nanosystems Engineering Research Center for Nanotechnology-Enabled Water Treatment (NEWT RET)
NEWT Research Experience for Teachers is a year-long program for teachers in the Houston, TX; El Paso, TX; and Phoenix, AZ areas. The program includes a 6-week internship in a nanotechnology research laboratory focused on water treatment. Selected participants will work in laboratories doing research on water treatment at Rice University, The University of Texas at El Paso, or Arizona State University, depending on their area. The internship includes a 7-week internship in one of these labs, lesson planning, and travel to Houston, TX to present at a symposium.
- Precise Advanced Technologies and Health Systems for Underserved Populations (PATHS-UP/Expeditions in Computing RET)
The PATHS-UP/Expeditions in Computing Research Experience for Teachers program is a year-long program for Houston area mathematics and computer science teachers. The program includes a 6-week internship in a research laboratory at Rice University, participation in other R-STEM programs, presentations based on the research done at Rice, and school year workshops.
