Campus Offices
Animal Resource Facility (ARF) oversees the animal-related needs of Rice University research ensuring legal and ethical standards pertaining to the involvement of animals in research. ARF provides the physical and emotional needs of research animals at Rice University.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) provides support to the Rice Community in the areas of chemical and biological safety, fire safety, office and laboratory safety. The department also works with local, state and federal agencies to ensure compliance with government codes and policies and assure everyone that Rice University is a safe place to work and study.
Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations (OCFR) manages all corporate and foundation partnerships on behalf of Rice University. OCRF help members of the Rice community solicit corporate and foundation support for academic and research projects and coordinate receipt of the award with the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP).
Office of Proposal Development (OPD) serves Rice University faculty researchers conceptualize, develop, and write proposals to federal agencies and other entities to seek funding for research projects. OPD work across all disciplines, departments, and divisions, with the overarching goal of making the proposal as compelling and competitive as possible — and of making the proposal development process as straightforward and streamlined as possible.
Office of Research (OR) provides faculty and staff with excellent service in proposal development and award submissions. The Office of Research supports campus-wide initiatives investing in research and scholarship infrastructure that nucleate activities across divisions even as they externally define Rice’s research enterprise.
Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) assists the faculty, staff, and students in commercializing technology created and developed at Rice. In doing so, the OTT strives to contribute to the public good, further economic development in Houston and Texas, and enhance the reputation of Rice University while maintaining a fiduciary responsibility to the university and its faculty, staff, and student body. OTT negotiates agreements and awards from industry or commercially sponsored projects.
Research & Cost Accounting (RCA) administers post award activities of awards and sponsored projects for the Rice University community. RCA is responsible for managing the funds under its stewardship in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and according to the terms and conditions of the sponsoring agencies.
